Gundam (en japonés ガンダム Gandamu). Conjunto de series de ciencia ficción, pertenecientes al género mecha, producidas desde 1979 por Sunrise y, desde 1994, Bandai. Se trata por lo general, de conflictos bélicos entre el gobierno de la Tierra y sus colonias espaciales. La acción suele transcurrir tanto en la Tierra como en las propias colonias. Éstas colonias, por lo general, buscan la independencia. Todas estas series tienen por lo general una serie de características comunes, como la presencia de un mecha pilotado por el protagonista el cual responde al nombre de Gundam

 

Diferentes cronologías

Pero no todas las series de Gundam están en el mismo eje cronológico, sino que algunas están situadas en universos paralelos.

La serie ORIGINAL y sus secuelas, mangas y novelas, se encuentran en la línea temporal llamada "Universal Century" 宇宙世紀(U.C), que engloba las siguientes series de anime y manga

¿Un futuro común?

Ninguna de estas historias tienen conexiones aparentes (excepto la existencia de colonias, una guerra entre ellas o ellas y la Tierra y los Gundam). Pero los aficionados de la serie han querido ver en ∀ Gundam o Turn A Gundam un futuro muy, muy lejano común a todas estas sagas. Sostienen que su calendario, 正歴 o "C.C" podría traducirse como "Historia correcta" (Correct Century). Sin embargo, ni el autor, Yoshiyuki Tomino, ni la productora Sunrise han dado validez a estas teorías. Y por supuesto, este futuro podría no englobar a Gundam Seed, ya que se creó años después de que terminase Turn A

Si bien, hay muchas versiones de gundam, la grafica de los dibujos no cambia mucho, lo que mas cambia es la estructura de los gundam.
